What is a hair transplant?
Hair Transplant Surgery is the procedure of replacing hair loss by harvesting grafts containing naturally resistant hair follicles from healthy donor regions on the scalp which are then transplanted onto bald or thinning areas of the head giving a long-term natural improvement in density and growth of the hair.
Grafts are typically harvested from a donor region with the densest population of hair, usually, the back and sides of the scalp and each hair graft harvested can contain from 1 to 4 hairs.
Hair restoration experts take great care to be meticulous when performing incisions to the scalp and depending on the method used for hair transplantation surgery will contribute to the appearance of scarring.
Though the remaining hair surrounding the incision is usually enough to conceal the site where the incision was made and hair is expected to grow back on either side of the incision, reducing the severity of scarring depends on the surgical procedure used and the skill of the surgeon.
Techniques for Hair Transplantation
There are two techniques to surgically extract hair grafts, F.U.E (Follicular Unit Extraction) and F.U.T(Follicular Unit Transplant).
The technique of F.U.E is performed where follicular units are individually removed from the donor region without a linear incision.
The process for BestFue hair transplantation involves first shaving the scalp to expose individual follicular units, and once the units are visible, a surgical hole punching instrument is used to make a small circular incision in the skin around the follicular unit to separate it from the surrounding tissue.
The unit is then picked from the scalp, leaving a small hole. One by one, the process is repeated until the surgeon has extracted a sufficient volume of hair follicular units (grafts) ready for the transplantation.
The F.U.E process can take a couple of hours depending on the size of the implant region planned for hair restoration.
BestFue Surgeons are extremely precise and the wound from the extraction is approximately 1-mm in diameter and will heal within 7 to 10 days leaving only tiny scars hidden in the back and sides of the scalp.
Difference results for different techniques of hair transplant
The technique of harvesting grafts one by one from the scalp is what differentiates F.U.E to F.U.T (follicular unit transplant)
F.U.T involves harvesting the donor units by surgically extracting a long thin strip of the scalp which is then microscopically dissected into individual follicular units ready to be received into the donor region.
Though each technique for harvesting follicular units is different, the preparation for receiving donor hair grafts to the recipient site is essentially the same and involves using a fine surgical needle to make individual entrances to the receiver area ready for the insertion of the follicular unit.
BestFue clinics in Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya offer the best choice of F.U.E hair transplant procedures available in Turkey with dramatic results in patients who have this method of procedure.
The difference between F.U.E and F.U.T is the appearance of scars left in the donor region and in the quality and quantity of grafts harvested through these techniques.
